We were
‘all in the same boat’
Madge remembers…
Buses weren’t always reliable during the war and quite often those who
worked in Walsall had to walk home. I remember that a group of neighbours
were walking home one evening and stopped suddenly because they saw
something glint in front of them. As they looked and felt their way around,
they realised that they were just one step away from the canal.
