remembers…
… I’d got Kilner jars if there was any fruit going I would bottle fruit.
We’d exchange things, if somebody had got a bit more sugar we’d swap,
perhaps a jelly or half a jelly or a packet of blancmange powder and that’s
how we’d manage. Or if the butchers had got a queue … you’d go and join the
queue and he’d give you about half a dozen sausages, and that was wonderful
that was. We managed, but there weren’t many fat people about I tell you
that.
