Putting Walsall Memories
ONLINE

Everyone is an expert in their own past

Autobiography session at Age Concern Training‘Walsall Memories’ uses the memories of Walsall people to create an educational resource on the Internet. It will be of general interest to young and old wherever they live.

Every community has a tale to tell and often it is the older members of a community who understand the importance of recording their memories. Projects such as documenting the memories of ‘Asian Elders’ are very important - not only is this generation becoming elderly, but they leave memories that younger generations can be inspired by and learn from.

Autobiography session at Age Concern TrainingCreating a local history study group is an excellent way of engaging people in a meaningful task, while also encouraging the development of new skills such as: word-processing, using the Internet, literacy and communication.

If groups are considering undertaking a local history study they should seek advice from their local history centre or record office regarding their proposed project and its requirements.
