Planning Services provides a range of statutory and non-statutory services and is made up of 14 teams consisting of
These services operate under a range of National and Regional Legislation and Guidance, including the Local Unitary Development Plan (UDP) and the Local Development Framework.
The culmination of these services ensures the safeguarding and development of the borough. This is principally concerned with the controlled development and use of land and buildings within the public and private sector through the planning and building control process, recording all development activities across the borough enforcing where appropriate restrictions or prohibitions to improve the quality of the built environment. The Service is also working towards improving air quality, controlling environmental noise and securing the abatement of statutory nuisances for the enjoyment of all those who live, visit and work within our borough.
